Happy Spring, Mr. Chance.

Good to have baseball to think about after the last couple of months.

Im not sure what the status of the "not renewed" means for two teams on the roster.....but if you have an opening I would be interested.

Managers, don't forget to send in your keeper dues to Lady Cat. Remember, BBM don't collect dues for Pinetar Keeper Leagues.

Slammers' SP draft:

Hernandez, $3,654K - he better be worth it

Shields, $1,210K - not a lot to pay if he performs per his billing

Zimmermann, $1,551K - see Shields + Slammer mgmt are secret Nats fans so it's all good.

Masterson, $320K         - great price for breakout candidate for dark horse Tribe.

Lester, $260K         - great price for BoSox #1, who knows how to pitch and is in a contract year.

Nova, $100K - He had a good Spring, but I've bet on - and lost with - this horse before + he's a hexed Yankee. Gerardi should have gone to the Cubs where he would have had a home forever. Now, he's just warming the bench for the inevitable Jeter. But I digress.

Summary: potentially, a stellar staff (that doesn't sound quite right), but too expensive for an AU league where the talent is plentiful with bargains galore. Plus, we're 10th in the all-important OF draft. That sucks. Why can't I be this wise before the SP draft?

Yes, time to start the second guessing ... [smile]

Fernandez was a steal last year and continues to be at $395K.  Then you get to the question of keeping Hamels and whether Lee will be worth $2180K.  Cueto at $660k and Ryo at $590K both SHOULD be worth the price.

And then you start wondering whether I should have jettisoned Hamels or a high priced offensive guy and kept Alex Wood.  He looked good last night.

I must say I am really enjoying my first "keeper" draft.....BBM drafts are always intriguing but when you throw the added twist of trying to figure out who to keep and who everyone else might keep it takes it to an entire new level.......a clean slate of new players each year is cool.....but I can see where the keeper aspect is as about as close to being the GM/manager of a real team as it gets in fantasy baseball

but with that being said..........uhggg what a rocky start

Kershaw was expensive at $3890 but how to you not keep him........ and then BAM in true Jabberwock bad mojo fashion he goes on the DL for a month.......never fails....as long as its just a 4 week thing it should be OK......I will keep telling myself that in between tylenols.

Was happy to keep Price at $1070....I think he is poised to have a monster year......which means he will slip in the shower next week

Also kept Greinke.....who knows ??.... will he settle into another great year in LA or will he go back to being the enigma that is Zack Grienke.....at $577 I think it was well worth the gamble

New Faces
Iwakuma should be a steal at $660 but hes another guy who will miss the first couple weeks with an injury.

Wheeler is a young kid with alot of upside....does he take the next step or just turn into another Met nightmare......$150K.......hopefully this one turns into long term gold

And what was I thinking with not double checking the injury list on Medlen........never saw that he blew out the elbow..........dummy dummy dummy....at least it only cost me $290

I love this staff when healthy.......Looks like I will be scrambling for a couple 100K fill ins to replace Kershaw and Iwakuma for April....hopefully it wont be any longer

AU is such a strange place ... I can't get used to picking up an outfielder who had a .830 OPS over 450 at bats last year for $100K in 56th i 56th position.

Yep

You look at your team and you think....wow I've got a solid roster
Then you look at the next guy and you think....wow he's got a solid roster

Mixed bag in the OF

Retained McCutcheon and Gomez for obvious reasons.

Beltran.....who knows...the guy keeps putting up numbers....maybe I can squeeze one more year
Victorino....another guy with an .800 OPS at 100K

Slides off a lot after that with Crisp and DeAza.

Slammers' OF draft:

Stanton, $3,640K
Puig, $5,000K
Myers, $3,410K
Gonzalez, $3,740K
Rasmus, $100K
Crawford, $100K

Summary: We got a solid outfield.

Nice grab with Utley from the 10th pick, Slim.   Guess a 820 OPS 2B doesn't get much interest.  He wouldn't have been there for you 'cept I wanted Rendon for the short & long term.  Some of the 2B "keepers" were surprising.
